Turkey Run Fall Break 2012

Yesterday we headed to Turkey Run for the day it is just 1.5hrs away, so very do-able for a day hike! We woke and it was cold and rainy, but we headed out anyway.

We stopped and got a picnic lunch and drove. I was in charge of this day trip from start to finish, so you know there are going to be some twists and turns! I am pleased to report that there was only one such event!

It took us almost 3 hours to get there instead of the normal 1.5 hrs! That is because the address that is on the in.gov website does not take you to Turkey Run. It takes you to a bridge in Shades Park. Anyway, thanks to Graham and his excellent sense of direction we found our way!

We got there and had a ramble around the nature center, ate some lunch and started our hike! We hiked for a few hours and several miles. We saw some beautiful landscape. We had so much fun! It is a place we will will go back to and we like to visit some of the covered bridges and Shades Park too!

Quote of the day goes to Abigail ‘I am glad we came here. It is good to know our state isn’t boring.’
